Our History


St. Francis Naggalama Hospital is a Private-Not-For-Profit general 100-bed rural Hospital founded on March 6th 1906 by Mother Kevin Kearney – Servant of God and the Foundress of the Little Sisters of St Francis. The Hospital is managed by the Little Sisters of St. Francis on behalf of Lugazi Catholic Diocese who are the legal owners. It is affiliated to the Uganda Catholic Medical Bureau (UCMB) – an umbrella body for health services of the Uganda Episcopal Conference.

Located within 2 Kms from Kalagi Township in Naggalama village, Mukono District, the Hospital is the sole medical Institution in wider Mukono area with an immediate catchment area of over 229,090 people. Strategically, the Hospital is managed by a Management Board of 15 members with the day today Hospital implementation team headed by the Chief Executive Officer/Director Administration. Currently, the Hospital has a staff complement of 162 employees that includes all cadres, both medical and non-medical.
